Speaker's Summary:

An increasing number of working environments for people both in academia and industry call for the integration of dedicated devices, such as large shared displays, with individual devices, such as laptops and PDAs. Left to the vagaries of existing software we end up with a hodgepodge in which there is little true inter-operation across devices. We have been studying ways to provide an integrated multi-device environment, and to provide different interaction styles that are better suited to group activities, such as design brainstorming. I will describe some of the experiments in our "iRoom" and the principles of "fluent interaction" that guide our design.
