Music Enhances Learning: Keeping Mozart in Mind
Professor Emeritus, UC Irvine
Based on their structured mathematical model of higher brain function, Leng and Shaw (1991) predicted that music training could enhance spatial-temporal reasoning. Their well-known behavioral studies, the "Mozart effect", and preschool studies with piano training have shown this enhanced spatial-temporal reasoning. The speaker will present new behavioral and neurophysiological results that have major educational implications in improving math performance for all children.
