Recent Discoveries in Human Evolution: A Tapas Approach
Professor David DeGusta
A series of fossil and genetic discoveries over the past 20 years has enriched our understanding of the last 6 million years of human evolution. In this talk, I will review the major questions regarding human origins, the methods used to address those questions, and the current leading hypotheses about the beginnings of our species. Examples will be drawn from Stanford-led field projects in Ethiopia and Djibouti. The theory of evolution will be contrasted with the claim of intelligent design as an explanation for human origins.
