Physics Opportunities in Fermilab's Futures [full talk PDF]

Date: 4/3/1999

Chris Quigg

I will survey the present state of particle physics and the opportunities immediately before us, including the possibility of discovering---or rediscovering---a light Higgs boson in a brighter Tevatron Collider. Then I will move on to the scientific questions and technological developments that will shape future experiments, discussing the prospects of an electron-positron linear collider, a muon collider, and a hadron collider beyond CERN's LHC. On the way to the next great machine, we encounter the possibility of a neutrino factory with unprecedented intensity and beam properties. I will conclude with some thoughts about inventing Fermilab's futures---and the futures of particle physics.
