SLAC Mailing Lists
There
are three types of Lists available to Outlook email users: Personal Outlook
Distribution Lists; Exchange Server Distribution Lists and Unix Server Mailing
Lists.
- Personal Distribution Lists
- These are lists seen in your Outlook Contacts folder but they are
kept on the Exchange server. Generally only you have access to them
unless you share your Contacts folder with others.
- Exchange Server Distribution Lists
- Exchange server Distribution Lists are created by the Exchange
Admins and Windows Admins for use by programs monitoring windows
services, etc. Lists for the general user are not recommended to go
here.
- Unix Majordomo Mailing Lists
- The largest group of mailing lists we have is this one. It keeps
copies of all messages and the archives can be configured so that they
can be viewed with a
web browser. These lists are also available to all of SLAC although they
are often configured to limit who can post to them to prevent SPAM from
getting to them. To request one of these you should fill out this form:
