Authenticated/Secure SMTP - Kerberos

In the examples below please replace your-userid with your own userid. Your userid should be entered in lower case.

UNIX Kerberos - Thunderbird

• Outgoing Server (SMTP): smtp-auth.slac.stanford.edu
• User Name: your-userid@SLAC.STANFORD.EDU     <---- CASE IS IMPORTANT.  Domain must be uppercase. 
• Connection Security: STARTTLS
• Authentication Method: Normal password
• Port: 587

UNIX Kerberos - Alpine and/or Pine

• smtp-server=smtp-auth.slac.stanford.edu:587/tls/user=your-userid

Note: On Solaris, you will be prompted for password.

GSSAPI - Thunderbird

• Outgoing Server (SMTP): smtp-auth.slac.stanford.edu
• User Name: your-userid
• Connection Security: STARTTLS
• Authentication Method: Kerberos / GSSAPI
