Changes with Exchange 2003
- Global Address List
- The different columns shown in the Global Address List is by
design in Exchange 2003.
- The lists you see under All Address Lists were placed there by
the Exchange Administrators because they were felt to be more useful
to users. Please let us know if you think we could improve the lists
in some way.
- All New Outlook Web Access
- One of the biggest changes users of the old OWA will notice is
the completely new Outlook Web Access interface.

- PDA Integration

- From: Address Differences
- Beginning with Exchange 2003 Microsoft is respecting the rules
of mail transfer noted in RFC 822. This is a good thing. However, what people will
notice may make them feel something is broken. The change comes
because the Sender: header is now respected.
If the address on the Sender: line is different from the address
on the From: line then this discrepancy is reflected on the From: line as
follows:
- owner-test-l@slac.stanford.edu on behalf of Downey, Teresa
L. [teresa.downey@slac.stanford.edu]
While this may seem odd, what it is telling you is the truth. The
message had a Sender: of
owner-test-l@slac.stanford.edu and a From: of
teresa.downey@slac.stanford.edu.
If you had Rules set up based on the From: address then these are
going to need to be updated.
- Large Mailbox Support
- These servers can support much larger mailboxes than Exchange
5.5 could. However, if you get your quota increased beyond 2Gig and
you have not created a new
Outlook profile since your email was moved to Exchange 2003 then
you'll get error messages. The solution is to go ahead and create
the new Outlook profile.
