Access codes

There are three different default access codes: 00000000, 1234, and the last four digits of your pager number. We strongly recommend that you change your access code to something only you can remember.

If you cannot access the pager system after attempting all three access codes, please call the Help Desk at 650-926-4357 to have your access code reset.

Custom greeting

All SLAC pagers may use custom greetings. You will need to set your greeting once you get a pager, otherwise your callers will hear something generic and won't necessarily know if they've paged you properly.

Changing your greeting:   Read through all the steps here as some of the recorded phone messages you receive while changing the greeting may be misleading.

1. Dial your pager number
2. Enter 0
   You will hear the following message:   Please enter your access code
3. Enter your access code (use one of the three default access codes)
   You will hear the following message:   You may now change your greeting message (by continuing on to Step 4)
4. Enter 30 - to begin recording your greeting
   You may now begin recording your message. Do not hang up!
5. Enter 1 - to end your recording
   You will hear the following message: Your message has been recorded
6. Enter 40 - to play your recording back, or repeat Steps 4 and 5 to re-record your message.

You may hang up now or continue on and change your access code.

Changing your access code

If you did not hang up after Step 6 for setting your custom greeting and you are still connected, you may skip Steps 1, 2 and 3.

1. Dial your pager number
2. Enter 0
   You will hear the following message:   Please enter your access code.
3. Enter your access code (use one of the three default access codes)
   You will hear the following message:   You may now change your greeting message
4. Enter 17*
   You will hear the following message: You are now in Access Code update mode.
   To change your Access Code press 3 plus your new Access Code followed by a number sign.
   Press 4 to hear your Access Code.
5. Enter 3 for "new Access Code" #
6. Enter 4 - to hear your new Access Code number
