| Note: to send a TelAlert page to a SLAC pager, use the web form for TelAlert messaging. | ||
Your new pager has the capability of receiving voicemail-like messages (alphanumeric ones, containing both letters & numbers) of up to 256 characters long. SLAC has implemented this feature through the TelAlert system. TelAlert allows pages to be sent from any web browser at SLAC as well as from any SCCS maintained Unix or VMS computer.
To enable this facility for your pager, you must be included in the TelAlert database. There is a Web search form that allows SLAC staff to look up individuals listed in the database, and to send them a TelAlert page.
You may choose to have your name searchable or not. You might think of this as the equivalent of including your pager number in the Phone Directory. Be sure to check the "No" option if you do not want your name to be searchable.
To be included in the TelAlert database, complete the information on this form and submit it.
