Audio conferencing

Audio conferencing can be set up from any telephone, with any other telephone, anywhere.

All audio conferences must be scheduled twenty-four (24) hours in advance with Art Bray, SLAC's audio conference coordinator, at (650) 926-8500.

Once you've scheduled a conference, you'll receive confirmation information via electronic mail. You'll be given a number to call to participate in the conference, a list of conference participants, plus a confirmation of the date and time.

Video conferencing

There are two factors involved in scheduling your videoconference once you've decided when you would like to have it: (1) whether a conference room is available at that time, and (2) whether the Energy Sciences Network or point-to-point uplink for video and audio transmission is available at that time.

SLAC usually connects to sites on the Energy Sciences Network (ESnet), which maintains a bridge that is used to connect multi-site conferences. All sites are tested prior to being listed. In addition, SLAC has connectivity to most non-ESnet sites via AT&T. However, some charges may apply for calls placed outside of ESnet. Speak to the videoconference coordinator at (650) 926-8500 for details.

All videoconferences must be scheduled twenty-four (24) hours in advance with Art Bray, SLAC's videoconference coordinator, at (650) 926-8500.

You can check the schedule for availability of SLAC's videoconference rooms, SLAC-1 (known on the schedule as SLAC) SLAC-2, and SLAC-3 for the time you wish to schedule your conference. You will need to contact Art Bray to confirm this time before it is definite; there may be several other people on a list waiting for this time-slot already.

To schedule:

  1. Name a SLAC participant the conference leader. This is often the person who coordinates and leads the conference from our end.
  2. Coordinate a meeting time with all sites.
  3. Contact Art Bray, SLAC videoconference coordinator, at (650) 926-8500 with the following information:
    1. Conference date and time
    2. Conference length
    3. Number of times repeated
    4. Conference title
    5. Requester name, extension and e-mail address
    6. Conference leader's name, telephone number, & e-mail address
    7. Names of participating sites
    8. Names and e-mail addresses of participants at other sites
