How to Install & Run PuTTY

Navigate to Xweb with your web browser and find PuTTY in the list of available applications


Important, during the Install, please do not click the “RUN” radio Button, please SAVE the install into your Desktop then click the install icon from your Desktop to run the installation

Please run the install from the Putty Desktop Icon, and then follow the Welcome Quest Putty Wizard until Complete Installation. No Reboot is needed. (Please select The Complete Installation)

 

How to run a UNIX Session via Putty

1) Launch PuTTY via the Start/Programs/PuTTY/ then launch the PuTTY icon


2) Select a session such as “Flora” then load it to the Host name and then click “Open” to open the session. For any other session please input the session (e.g. noric) in the” Host Name or IP address” field and proceed as such. Below is a short description on how to login into a session.
 


Click Open radio button


3) You must answer YES to the “WARNING-POTENTIAL SECURITY BREACH!” in order to proceed, failing to do so will result in deny of access.


Answer YES


4) Please enter your SLAC Unix credentials in order to be able to proceed into the FLORA session, if you need to login to another server you may do so via the terminal by typing “SSH” into your selected destination or you may open another PuTTY session by repeating the process 1 to 3. Please see adjoined  picture & command line e.g.
