Citrix ICA Published Application Setup - custom or explicit ICA connection for Windows clients only.

The Citrix ICA client can allow access to specific applications as well as allowing access to a new desktop window.  Please see the SLAC Terminal Server page to learn more about the SLAC Windows Terminal Server/Citrix Farm.

The Citrix Program Neighborhood in the Windows platform allows you get a listing of all available applications published by the WTS Farm.  This enumeration of resources takes place automatically every time you launch the Citrix Program Neighborhood by a method called "Citrix ICA browsing service".  The instructions on how to configure your ICA client to use this method are here.

Occasionally, when browsing problems occur in a particular network subnet, one can not get a complete listing of all available applications simply because ICA does not propagate/broadcast correctly to its clients.   A message will appear "There are no applications available for the supplied credentials in the current Application Set".

As an alternative method, one can configure his/her ICA client to hard-code a specific connection (published application).  To configure the client for a specific application such as Outlook or any other published application, do the following:

Double click on the Citrix Program Neighborhood icon.
If you see the Application Set Manager, double click on its icon.
Otherwise, click on the Up button until you see the Custom ICA Connections icon.
