Self-Signed Certificates

When They Are Allowed

If the SSL-enabled page is only for System Administrators and not used by "normal" SLAC users or the public then a self-signed certificate is allowed.

Any SSL-enabled page which is seen by a normal SLAC user or the public would need to obtain a valid commercial certificate. You can request one via an email to security@slac.stanford.edu.
