Citrix ICA Client Configuration for Windows

How to Configure Citrix ICA Client to work on Home machines.

• First verify that the Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server Client Packager - Version 8.0 or 9.0 is already installed on your system.  If it is, an icon labeled "Citrix Program Neighborhood" should appear on your desktop. If not go to Start – Settings - Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs, you should see "MetaFrame Presentation Server Client" listed as part of the applications installed on your workstation. If you do not see it, then you do not have it installed.
• If the ICA client is not installed, you can go to SLAC Licensing Web site: https://xweb.slac.stanford.edu to install the software. Choose "MetaFrame Presentation Server Client 8.0.24737" from the SLAC Licensing Web site.
• Alternatively, you can also download the Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server Client Packager - Version 9.0 from the Citrix Web Site.
• If you install the Client from the xweb, during installation of the Citrix ICA client, take the default configurations as presented.

How to install from the Citrix website: 

1.      Under Download Clients – click Citrix Presentation Server Client Packager – Version 9.0, scroll down to Recommended Version - language should be English – click Get Software – a window will pop up – click on Download Here - a box should pop up asking “Do you want to run or save this file?” click Run. If you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, you will see another box stating “The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?” click Run.

 

2.      During installation of the Citrix ICA client, take the default configurations as presented, when you get to License Agreement select I accept the license agreement, make sure that Program Neighborhood Agent is X out under Select Client. If it’s not by default, click on the box next to it with the arrow pointing down and select Entire feature will be unavailable, click Next. Then continue to accept the defaults.

 

 

• Once the Citrix Program Neighborhood is installed, launch the following web site or type in one of the two addresses below.

 http://slaccitrix1.slac.stanford.edu

or

http://slaccitrix2.slac.stanford.edu

• Enter your Windows Username & Password at the SLAC Citrix MetaFrame Web login to access the Citrix XP farm.
• At the SLAC MetaFrame XP Applications screen, click Windows Desktop; you will need to enter your Username & Password again.
