Game Highlights

Theory won the bat toss, taking home field advantage.  But Experiment got off to a fast start with Rodd Pope hitting a grand slam to score 4 runs for Experiment in the 1st inning.  In the 2nd inning Woods tripled scoring one run for Experiment.  Ron Cassell had his first 3-run homer in the 3rd inning.  Experiment continued to pile it on in the 5th inning scoring 6 runs, aided by hitting by Jeff deLamare good for 2 RBIs and a double by Cassell for another 2 RBIs.  Rodd Pope then hit a blast to deep left field, only to have Michael Binger make a spectacular catch.  Theory shut down Experiment in the 6th inning aided again by a spectacular catch in deep left by Binger on a hit by Woods.  Theory rallied in the bottom of the inning as Lance Dixon singled scoring 2 runs, followed by a 2-run homer by Herbi Dreiner.  Theory had closed the gap to 14-7 at the end of 6.  The 7th inning was scoreless as Theory exhibited good defense in the outfield with catches by Lance Dixon and a great catch by Dan Green in Right Field on a blast from Cassell.  Both teams stepped up the intensity in the 9th inning.  Experiment batters went first.  Heather Woods singled to lead off the inning and went to 2nd on a throwing error.  Mike Woods then singled to advance Heather to 3rd.  This brought up Ron Cassell who promptly got his 2nd 3-run homer of the game.  In the bottom of the inning Theory was not yet ready to throw in the towel.  Richard Hill had a 2-run homer despite a slip rounding 3rd base (no cleats) resulting in a stumble/crawl to home and slapping his finger on the plate just ahead of the throw.   Theory got 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but came up short with 12 runs total to 20 runs by Experiment.
