The following is taken from a letter to Jonathan Dorfan written by Samuel Bodman, Secretary of Energy, following his visit to SLAC.

Dear Jonathan:

Thank you for your hospitality during my recent visit to the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). I found the tours and presentations to be extremely informative, and I was especially pleased to have an opportunity to address the entire SLAC team at the all-hands meeting.

Meeting with you and President Hennessy was very valuable to me. The work you are doing together is so important to our understanding of the universe. Your work is helping us discover new scientific frontiers within the physical and life sciences. I applaud your commitment to excellence.

Please pass along my appreciation to all of your staff who made this visit a success. I know it took a lot of hard work.

I look forward to working with you as I continue my term as Secretary of Energy.

Thank you again.

Sincerely, Samuel W. Bodman
