Planned PBX Phone Outage

Wednesday Aug 20

9:00 p.m.

There will be a brief SLAC telephone system outage this Wednesday night, August 20. The PBX telephone system serving SLAC will have a one-minute planned outage around 9:00 p.m. Pacific Time this Wednesday, August 20, 2003. This outage is necessary to install new software on the PBX phone system.

During the outage all PBX telephones at SLAC will have no dial tone and will not operate. This will include PBX lines that are connected to modems or other devices. Every effort will be made to have the outage at a moment when there are no calls in progress. It would be helpful if users on site at SLAC would avoid making calls at around 9:00 p.m.

After the outage, all PBX features and services will be automatically restored. There will be no need to re-program any phone features such as call-forwarding. PBX technicians will manage the outage on site.

Cell phones, "outside lines", coin phones, data networking, and other services that do not depend on the PBX system will not be affected.
