Game Highlights
Accelerator fielded a strong team as it sought a win to even the series between Accelerator and Research at 4 games each.  After a quiet first inning with a 1-0 lead, Accelerator bats came alive in the bottom of the 2nd.  Mike Woods led off with a single, and then Accelerator batted through the order with Woods coming to bat a 2nd time with bases loaded and 2 outs.  Woods proceeded to hit a hard drive to a gap in right center and scored an in-the-park grand slam.  Accelerator batted through the order for a 2nd time in the 3rd inning, after which they enjoyed a daunting19-0 lead.  Research bats started producing runs in the middle and late innings but not enough to catch up.  Starring offensively for Accelerator were Matt Cramar and Kevin Turner with 5 hits each.  Woods, Jeff Corbett, and Tomas Jackson each collected 4 hits.  Woods had the only home run for Accelerator, but Corbett came close with a long ball to left that hit the home run fence on the fly.  Woods' other hits were a double in the 4th inning and finally a triple in the 5th to complete the cycle.

Research had some last-minute cancellations due to injuries but picked up 2 players that would normally play for Accelerator, Petr Fuchs and Herman Winick.  Petr managed to collect an unprecedented 4 infield hits and Herman added 2 more singles.  Research players Mike Minitti, Ryan MacLellan and newcomer Omar Moreno provided lots of power-hitting potential.  Minitti and MacLellan hit balls out of the park in warmups, but couldn't find that magic during the game.  Minitti had 6 RBIs on 3 hits while Omar had the best hitting for Research, collecting 4 hits including a solo home run to start the 9th inning (only home run in the game for Research).  Omar also starred defensively at Short Stop with 8 put-outs and assists.

Bill Kirk MVP Award
Mike Woods was awarded MVP.  Mike hit for the cycle, including a grand slam home run with 2 outs in the 2nd inning.

Game Notes
Many family members and friends came to watch the game and enjoy a sunny warm afternoon at Arrillaga Field.  Some game and post-game photos can be found here.  Following the post-game celebrations and kids taking over the ball field, many of the players and guests ventured to the Dutch Goose for food and drink.  There they recounted highlights of present and past games, and discussed prospects for the Giants post-season run.
