Retrieving Attachment from Exchange Mailbox Servers

  • Upon an user's request to release file(s) in quarantine.  Open the attachment sent by the user to identify which host contains the stripped file(s).  The contents of the attachment will look like this:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    • FILE QUARANTINED
      ----------------

Antigen for Exchange (EXCH-ANON) removed vpn3000-v4-0-3-f.zip->Setup.exe
since it was found to match the FILE FILTER= unnamed: *.exe file filter.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Logon to the front-end server "exch-anon".
  • Go to Start Menu -> Programs -> Antigen for Exchange -> Sybari Client.
  • Select the appropriate Exchange server to connect to (in the example above, it'd be exch-anon).
  • From the Sybari client UI, select 'REPORT' on the left pane:

    • Click on the 'Quarantine' icon on the left pane.  You'll see on the right pane all the files that are presently in quarantine.
    • Sort the first column by Date.  Identify & select the file you need to retrieve.

    • Click on 'Save As...'
    • Create a directory (i.e. "UserName") in the temporary pickup location: V:\SCS\Desktop\Pickup
    • Notify user by updating RT ticket.
