Enabling SIP Instant Messaging

• From Lync Front End servers (i.e. Lync01, Lync02)
  • Sign on to one of the Lync Front End servers
  • launch Lync Powershell
  • user this command to enable new user: Enable-CsUser -Identity username -RegistrarPool:lyncpool1.slac.stanford.edu -SipAddressType:emailaddress
  • Above Lync PS will enable user account and set sign on name to match user' emailaddress
  • To validate newly created account: Get-CsUser -Identity username | fl
    
    
    
    
• From IE
  • browse to https://lyncpool1.slac.stanford.edu/cscp
  • enter your user name and password and click OK
  • Home -> Top Actions -> Enable users for Lync Server
  • Click on Add -> type in the username (sam account or last name) -> Click Find -> Highlight on the username -> click OK
  • Assign users to a pool: click on drop down box and pick lyncpool1.slac.stanford.edu
  • Generate user's SIP URI:
    • Use user's email address
  • Leave the rest of the selection as default
  • Click on Enable

• Notify the user that it is done and tell them what their sign-in name is (should be email address)
