Between XP and Classic
|
23 April, 2003
SLAC installed Windows XP client computers have the Windows
Classic interface. The Windows Classic interface was adopted since this
was similar to the Windows NT/Windows 2000 interface. Below are
instructions for users to switch back and forth between Windows Classic and
Windows XP interfaces.
Switching between Windows XP and Windows Classic interface:
- Desktop and Start Menu/Taskbar
- Folders
- Control Panel:
1) Switching from
Windows XP to Windows Classic
2) Switching from Windows Classic to Windows XP
To get back to Windows XP view of the Control Panel,
first check that Folders are set to allow this.
Go to Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->General tab->Tasks,
select 'Show common tasks in folders'.
Then go to Control Panel windows to select 'Switch to Category View'
